description Hidden in the southwestern part of the state is Parvin State Park, a park whose history is as varied as its wildlife. Situated on the edge of the Pine Barrens, the park not only has pine forests typical to the area but also a swamp hardwood forest. Spring bursts out in bright colors and rich fragrances with blossoming dogwood, laurel, holly, magnolia, wild azalea and over 200 kinds of flowering plants. Thundergust Lake, Parvin Lake and Muddy Run are popular for fishing and boating. Swimming is allowed in Parvin Lake only. This park served as home for the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933 to 1941, a summer camp for the children of displaced Japanese Americans in 1943, a POW camp for German prisoners in 1944 and temporary housing for the Kalmycks who fled their homelands in Eastern Europe in 1952. Keep Your Park Clean through the Carry-In/Carry-Out Program you can help us keep your parks clean and beautiful by carrying out the trash you carry in. Bags are provided throughout the site. Thank you for your cooperation and remember to recycle. Park Hours: Open daily sunrise to sunset Park Office: Open 8am-6pm Pertinent Rules & Regulations: Alcohol is prohibited. Pets, except for service animals, are prohibited from swimming areas & camping areas unless pet friendly sites. Pets must be on a maximum 6 foot leash where permitted. Observe quiet hours of 10pm to 6am. Unduly annoying conduct prohibited. Trash must be placed in recycle or refuse containers or taken with the visitor. Facility must be occupied and vacated as stated on permit. Maximum 6 people per site unless group site. Maximum 2 licensed vehicles on site. Extra vehicles fee applies. Campsite visitors are allowed from 8am to 8pm (day use fees apply). Maximum 14 night stay initially, then up to 40 night total in calendar year. Reservation cancellation fees apply. No refunds to evicted persons. Under age campers must have one adult supervisor to every 9 campers under the age of 18. Adult supervisors must have transportation available for emergencies. No posting of signs. No person shall damage, move or remove any plant, animal, equipment or structure. Where permitted, metal detectors require a permit. Possession of firearms is prohibited. Swimming is restricted to supervised beaches. Diving prohibited. Coast Guard approved life jackets must be available when boating. Motor vehicles must be licensed, insured and registered. Motor vehicles are restricted to established roads & parking areas. All-terrain vehicles (ATV), motorized trail bikes and off-road vehicles are prohibited. Unless otherwise posted, motor vehicle speeds is limited to 35 mph on improved roads and 25mph on dirt, gravel or sand roads. Do not block traffic on roadways, paths or trails. wood fires in campsites are permitted only in fire rings and fireplaces unless fire restriction is in effect. Fire regulations are dependent on weather conditions and do change daily.

Two of the cabins are accessible for persons with disabilities and offer accommodations for 6 people. Playground available. Cabins are located on the north Shore of Thundergust Lake. Six-bunk cabins: New Jersey Residents: $75 per night; $525 per week; Non-Residents: $85 per night; $595 per week. Several picnic areas with table and grills are located throughout the Park. For larger groups, we also offer two reservable picnic areas at Thundergust Lake, 100 people per pavilion; total capacity 200. Flush toilets, water, grills, picnic tables, activity and ball fields available. Group picnicking reservations are required for weekday events. A party of 20 or more people constitutes a group. They may be reserved for a fee: NJ Resident $125 per day/Non-Resident $175 per dayOpen year round. Cancellation fee is 50 percent of Fee. Groups of 20 or more people shall reserve picnic facilities at least five days in advance. Such group use is not permitted on Holidays except as authorized by the Superintendent. Reservations for picnic areas are handled by the individual park area offices.

GROUP CAMPING MANIFEST FORM required prior to groups arrival. No additional names permitted once you have checked in. In the event the park is closed due to capacity, no one that is not listed on manifest will be permitted. Only the person listed on camp reservation will be permitted until we receive the completed manifest. FIREWOOD is not provided at the structures. RESERVATIONS can be made up to 11 months in advance. PET FRIENDLY CAMPSITES are available. Pet license and inoculations certificate required. WHEN YOU ARRIVE-You must sign for your own site. Have your equipment with you and be ready to camp when you register. Make and license plates of all vehicles must be provided at registration. OCCUPANCY-Limited to 6 individuals per campsite unless group site. Only 2 vehicles permitted on any campsite. Extra vehicles will be required to park in a designated area (additional fees will apply). AGE REGULATIONS-Campsites must be registered and occupied by a responsible person 18 years of age or older. ALOCOHOL PROHIBITED in NJ State Parks & Forests. QUIET HOURS-From 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., and are strictly enforced. Violators of this policy may be evicted. GENERATORS- May be used except during quiet hours. If the use of a generator is deemed unreasonably loud by the facility staff then individual use of a generator may be prohibited /limited. FIRES-Must be built in fire rings provided. Only dead and down wood may be used for fuel. No chainsaws are allowed in campgrounds, and cutting down trees, alive or dead is prohibited. SWIMMING BEACH is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The snack bar and all beach equipment rentals are available during this period. NOTE: Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. Boats requiring gas or oil are not permitted. There are animals such as bear and raccoons in the area. Please keep a clean campsite. Do not leave food out. Waterfront access in campgrounds is limited to campers registered in those specific sites. Additional parking for registered campers and their guests is available in the campground for an additional fee.

orientationDescription Parvin Natural Area (465 acres) Situated at the edge of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, the Parvin Natural Area combines many of the characteristics and species of southern New Jersey and the Pine Barrens. Several trails run through the hardwood and Atlantic white cedar swamps, pitch pine lowlands and upland pine and oak forests. Parvin is home to the state-threatened barred owl and the endangered swamp pink.
recreationDescription A lifeguard staffed swimming beach is provided at Parvin Grove, which is located on Parvin Lake. Parking areas, bathhouse, first-aid station, canoe rental and a concession offering refreshment, novelties and beach supplies are all conveniently located nearby. Picnic Groves with tables and grills and playgrounds are located on either side of the beach. Swimming is provided from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Inner tubes, rafts and other flotation devices are not permitted in the swimming area. Only Coast Guard approved life jackets are permitted. Pets are prohibited on the beach. Fishing is subject to New Jersey's Fish and Wildlife Laws. Freshwater species are mainly pickerel, sunfish, and catfish. Fishing License are available nearby. Please visit www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw for NJ fishing regulations. Hunting is allowed in large parts of the forest and is subject to New Jersey's Fish and Wildlife Laws. A public boat launch ramp is located at Fisherman's Landing. The launch ramp is available from sunrise to sunset year round. Parvin Lake is electric motor only.
